Old School Guitar Hero

Guitar Hero for the Commodore 64

Dude configures his Commodore 64 to play a version of Guitar Hero with a Shredz64 and a PSX64 interface which basically makes the user able to connect ANY Playstation controller, including DualShock 2 controllers and Guitar Hero controllers to the Commodore 64. Uses SID files, and from what I gather, there’s tens of thousands of different SID file versions of popular songs on the internet, so you could possibly play a song on here, that you wouldn’t be able to anywhere else. Most likely with obscure songs though, since I’m sure that someone customized downloadable songs for GH and Rock Band already.

Guy demos the Zelda Overworld Theme from the Original Zelda, which is pretty sweet by the way. Even has star power! Which in Shredz64 is Shreddocity. Neat-o. Frankly, I’m impressed by the dude’s ingenuity and nerd-determination in creating this project. Much more awesome than any douchebag’s youtube video of doing “The HARDEST SONG EVAR ON GH4 ON EXPERT”.

I’m really surprised by the C64′s audio capabilities. Like in the video, he said “many people think that the Commodore 64 only does bleeps and bloops,” but really, the tunes are recognizable and the graphics are decent considering the era in which the C64 was developed.
